  1. Love this movie. Not only because of the actress, but because of the fight against all odds, and the length of the fight. The determination of the woman to keep on against the establishment of conceit and ignorance.

  2. "…Whatever you do..Whatever happens: Remember the people are more important than the system!"

Her treatment is the basis for today's physiotherapy!!

But it was dismissed by the medical specialists and a Royal Commission of the time!!

100s of children who were acute polio victims were able to walk again!

Bit strange to have most actors speaking with American accents but they at least took it more seriously in the States than they did in Aus. so I guess they deserve the privilege of telling this remarkable woman's story!

  3. This was an exceptional good movie & uploading this to share with others
[ [ Sister devoted her whole life and a marriage to help children ] ]
but when all those little children came to the front door singing Happy Birthday I really began to tear up,

  4. I found this years ago after "John-Boy" found her treatment mentioned at the local collage. He treated his Mother effectively in "An Easter Story" I believe?

  5. very similar rejection by authority when Semmelweiss found puerperal fever was prevented when doctors washed their hands before examining pregnant women. The belief at the time was illness came was transmitted through the air by a miasma. Tragically he died before it was proved puerperal fever and many others were caused by bacteria. That was mid1800s. incredible to think specialists were, and probably still do cling to book learning when something new is presented to them.
