Hey, who was the lady that played Mo? Seen her befor on sitcoms growing up, but i cant place her.
I watch this film at least 15 times it's really good. the old lady she doesn't want to be buried in Potter's field and she's got a place staked out for her! and cost her a lot of money! what the hell does it matter your dead. I'm the good Lord is the Potter and we are the clay!!!! Amen. back to the movie though that's one of my all-time favorites and there are a lot of comedic parts in this film. I take my hat off to that they just don't make them like this anymore! thanks for posting it I watch it every time it comes on TV.

Wow the scene in the shack sizzles! I never thought W. cute, but I sure wasn't thinking about that in THAT scene. Jean Peters is always pretty and sultry. I see him in a new light now. A manly man. Love it.
What a film….cast of brilliance n Thelma Ritter, as Mo, with New York swag of the old school, was exceptional. Widmark one of the greats, but Richard Kiley, as Joey, was a superb actor, with an uncanny resemblance to young James Stewart.
Good Richard Widmark film — Widmark is always great and Peters carries her role admirably.

Good old movie, and Joey was played by the great baritone Richard Kiley who would go on to star in Kismet and Man of La Mancha.

I keep coming back to this.
They brought in a professional pickpocket to teach Widmark how to act like one. They were going to used closeups of the pro's hands in the actual pickpocketing scenes, but Widmark proved to be a natural, and he wound up doing it all himself. Great movie.
What an awesome movie! Widmark always delivers an excellent performance! Tough and irresistible in this movie. I simply love him!
This is the first time I see Jean Peters. What an underrated actress!
