  1. I am going to next year's Iowa State Fair, once Covid-19 settles down. I plan on checking out the campground and do all of the things shown in the movie. Also I plan to travel to Indianola, Iowa where the Lane Sisters lived. Airfare seems to be cheaper to fly into Kansas City, rather than Des Moines. Also good, reasonably-priced hotels are available outside of Des Moines.

  3. ❤️Iowan born & raised. This was on my tv when I woke up today and I’m so glad I decided to watch it. One of my new favorites! I love the fair!?Thank you for sharing❤️❤️❤️??????????

  4. I wish I could have tasted that mincemeat with the Brandy in it and eat it all. Just that part alone made me want to see this movie. As I recall there was another state fair movie made later on that showed the same scene of liquor being put into mincemeat for the contest I need to find that movie. Now I'm going to open a jar of pickles and eat some they look good when the judges were tasting pickles. 1940s and 50s those were the good days when America was number one and everybody loved America. Now a days the world is turned upside down these smart alec spoiled rotten generations don't know what it was like back then they miss out and many of them do not love America what a shame.

  5. Loved Jeannie Craine since I was a kid and now fell in love with her all over again! Great cast too with wonderful music and songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

  6. What a great Rogers & Hammerstein production. Gorgeous color. I love this 1945 version the best I think, but also really like the Pat Boone / Ann Margaret (and Bobby Darin!) version from 1962. Jeanne Crain was perfect for the role here, so beautiful. This was a change of pace for Dana Andrews, the same year he did “The Best Years of Our Lives,” another great movie. I was born in 1956, and have always said I was born about 25 years too late.

  7. April2021They don't make them like that anymore. l first saw it !945 at the age of sixteen and went overboard. Seen it several times on YouTube with my final vision this month. Beautiful picture of long ago.T.Heslop UK.

  8. Love that this 15 year old girl is into these movies. I am in my 80s and never get tired of watching them. May I recommend to her the wonderful Betty Grable musicals. I think she will love them, as I do.❤️

  9. very poor pacing when the high point of the movie occurs at 3:30
    sorry to sound so negative.
the movie – as a slice of Americana is great –
but there's really only one and one-half good songs in it.
