1945 A Royal Scandal

Produced by Ernst Lubitsch; directed by Otto Preminger (due to Lubitsch’s illness). A sound remake of Lubitsch’s “Forbidden Paradise.”

  1. Absolutely shear genius. the script, the cast and the setting. So beautifully done and the acting is superb. I love slapstick comedy. I love watching this. Love Charles Coburn he is awesome!! "I deny everything – lol"

  3. freundlichst Berlin, from the guys who brought you jetplanes, invisible u-boats, ketchup, wurlitzer, stealth bombers etc.

  4. Fantastic lyrics, brilliantly played a classic funny, a touch of history from other view. Thank you sharing don’t like modern comedies but classics are the best ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  5. The recent farce by Ianucci, Death of Stalin, is really similar to this. Especially for the Rufus Isaacs role as Marshal Zhukov. Thanks for uploading this. Fantastic!!

  6. This is really a Jewel that I never recognise it before. The movie has argument, very comic, has all the intrigue of the royal court etc. Very pleasant to see this beautiful treasure. I am very happy and I enjoy one of the best I have seen.

  8. I've seen this movie like 10 times now. Its a masterpiece only we here have discovered! Script and dialogue was too smart for the 1940's as it received mixed reviews.

  9. People should please remember they are watching actors and their "lines", zingers and dialogue were written by others.
The brilliance of content goes to the WRITERS. The brilliance of delivery and performance of, goes to the players.

  10. OTTO PREMINGER
Renowned as a Director for what were considered idiosyncrasies.
    PREMINGER directed
THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, starring SINATRA and KIM NOVAK. The subject matter was ahead of its day to the masses, only but widely known throughout the arts. There were two of that movie in my home….
OTTO PREMINGER was an outstanding artist in his work – ahead of his time in ideas – breaking the rules for his content and direction.

  11. I loved Coburn's facial expression when Alexie comes through the wall! The dialogue was superb and great acting, except I feel Anne's performance was a little over the top! Great comedy!!! Great movie!!!

  12. Love the movie. I think Vincent Price is so cute when he does comedy. He's good on the serious roles also but something about him when he does funny roles.

  13. Tallulah well cast. She has the charisma to be an Empress. Rather suggestive piece of scenery central at 24:25 ….. There is a new TV series on Catherine. I doubt it is a patch on the fun of this.

  14. Lubitsch's fingerprints are all over this film. Preminger followed the script and style of a Lubitsch film perfectly-so well that I swear I am watching a Lubitsch masterpiece. And this is also a very good print.
