  1. In the original stage musical, it was Blossom, performed by ETHEL MERMAN who received coded military radio messages through the wires on her teeth. Viv is wonderful, as usual, subbing for the stage star, whose performance was generally regarded as TOO BIG for the screen. If I recall, there was no male cousin and none of Latin extraction. Oddly enough, the screenplay has scenes from Act I in Act 2, and vice versa. There's some confusion as well as to where the action takes place, which concerned the mistaken impression that Blossom was running a house of ill repute instead of a home away from home for army wives. "My Old Kentucky Home?" And where, btw, is the Porter song "By the Mississississiniwah?"

  4. Back when people took pride in how they looked and dressed! Go to Walmart and see how far Americans have fallen, it's sickening enough to make you cry!

  5. I recently had the opportunity to visit Brazil and feel the warmth and happiness of the Brazilian people. They reminded me of Carmen. If I weren't German, I would like to be either Brazilian or American. These people do have personality.
