Thank you for posting.
Real live MST3k or Rifftrax fodder, if I've ever seen it!
Incredible they are talking about Atomic rockets way back in 1958 so what have they been inventing and working on for these last 70 years?
If only they new Russia would be the first man in space and 11 years later USA on the moon and back
Attention…Attention…dammit!, Attention!
someone got a new gadget to make woo woo noises I think
Someone shut that woman up banging on about her baby!

Good movie!
The sound effects are pretty cool.
Joe Doesn't even Kiss his Wife Goodbye?
Enjoyable movie and given its release date of some 58 years ago, the quality of the upload is remarkable! Thanks for posting.

Brilliant film, brilliantly acted & scripted! Should have won a clutch of Oscars!!
The Night the World Exploded right into The Day the Sky Exploded…next: The Afternoon the Cat Exploded!
Not to bad except for the bad science.
Movie was released in 1961, not 1958. MCMLXI = 1961.
Suspenseful movie….but the wired music reminded me of "Plan 9 From Outer Space."(ls)
"I shan't be long" ~ LOL! The background noises crack me up, something that I remember as a child that scared me. The lady's outfits are extremely unbecoming in the 50s! Boxy & plain looking. These are movies we used to watch on Friday nights as a teenager. Our favorite one was "The Brain that Wouldn't Die" – it's a real Hokie gem!
Thank goodness our advanced calculator technology of today has solved the temperature sensitivity problem.
The title shot right at the very beginning of the movies says:
"THE DAY THE SKY EXPLODED

MCMLXI = 1961
I think vintage Italian space opera is so imaginative. Intelligent plot here, though I think it inspired many later imitations. ("Day The Earth Caught Fire," Irwin Allen's "City Beneath The Sea," readily come to mind.) Showing an International Space launch made it easier to segue into the resulting global threat. But stopping the problem seemed like less of a success when radioactive fallout raining down was likely. The voiceover of astronaut John McLaren sounded like actor Shane Rimmer, who went on to supply the voice of Scott Tracy in Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds." And yes, I, too, was annoyed by the woman in the crowd scenes calling out for her baby… over and over and over!
JFK is mentioned by those initials on the paper under the main title (at 00:00) .. seems a bit out of time if this was made in 1958…
sexiest pigs LOL animal abuse all are still around. Of course real scientists do not freak out and carry on until after they succeed. Still fun to watch even if it is a bomb.
When you're in orbit, turn off the motors. Now that's mission control.
OH… 😒
