  1. In the days when ITV was GREAT…individual regional companies producing really great stuff……like Granada/Yorkshire/Southern/HTV etc……the TV series and news were 1000% better than in 2020…….look at ITV today…complete GARBAGE

  2. It hasn't aged well! I love the story, the book and audiobook, but this is ridiculous, wooden acting for the most part, the polystyrene ship and inauthentic make up and costume! The artschool pictures… Were all BBC costume dramas this bad in the early eighties? Its time to make a radical remake!

  3. Got to love the opening credits of that first episode with the glamour head shots of the lead actors superimposed over sailors being bludgeoned to death!

  4. Beautiful movie. Jane Seymour adapts to sceneries like this.. Old country, Scottish or English or New Zealand maybe. Great movie. Great acting. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Such a cheesy movie directed by 3 rd graders. Burnt toast and cold coffee was more satisfying than this obnoxiously conscripted film that definitely lacked any idea of what successful films capture and inspire to audiences. Totally a waste of time and effort. But it made paychecks to all that worked on it

  6. Jane Seymour is so insufferably beautiful, now as then. & this is a well acted movie with a great cast, chock full "that guy from the other film". Yet this version lacks the menace if the 1939 Hitchcock film. 👍👍✌❤

  7. Just watched the 1939 Alfred Hitchcock movie — completely different story — the Leader was the Squire, not the Vicar — and the hero was an under-cover agent posing as a Wrecker, not the brother of the inn-keeper. I wonder which story is the right one. Not a fan of Daphne du Maurier so don't intend reading the book to find out.

  8. Another wonderful story by Daphne DeMaurier. Plenty of drama and suspense set in Cornwall where she writes about with so well. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Really BAD MOVIE. Poor Script.
For a good movie, watch the 1939 version with Maureen O'hara. It follows the book.
This trash is typical 80's rip-off of a classic, with bad re-write.
And what is with the repeated FACIAL CLOSE-UPS? These actors faces do NOT bear up to 10-15 seconds of 'intense emotional acting face'…again…bad script
Tried 3 timnes to watch it. Just cant, even tho' Jane is so beautiful

  10. I knew from the start that the minister was up to no good; the increasing whiteness of his skin was a dead giveaway. During the 1970's and 1980's Christianity had fallen out of favor and Christian clerics from that time to today are portrayed as villains.

  11. Jane is beautiful, enchanting. The story is haunting, sad and hard to take. The film is well directed and certainly worth seeing it. Thank for the upload of good quality

  12. The soldier in the carriage at the beginning is Nick Brimble, who played Francis Urquart's henchman Corder in 'House of Cards' and later Little John in 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.'

  13. Orson Welles described (my cousin) Patrick McGoohan's stage presence as 'intimidating' so that gives you an idea of his charisma. He almost stole the show from Welles when they did 'Moby Dick' and he was offered James Bond before Sean Connery.
