  1. Terry-Thomas, Peggy Mount, Peter Sellers, Dennis Price, Shirley Eaton, Joan Sims, Georgina Cookson et al….it doesn't get any better than that.

  2. Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?…"
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea !"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

  3. Although great humor has always been around, it's always been rare, compared to the cheap slapstick stuff, but the British have always produced the best, in every era, including the most recent one.

  4. Peter Sellers was a genius, i'm Scottish and in this his Scots impersonation is 100% spot on. Sellers could impersonate anyone perfectly. Cheers!

  5. I adore Peter Sellers and Terry-Thomas! Thank you very much, doubledowndoubletalk, for uploading this rare comedy film featuring two of my favourite British actors – I truly enjoyed it. There are no superb actors or films like this today, unfortunately – but I am so grateful that films like this are in the archives for us to see and enjoy. ?

  6. Not a bad film. Terry Thomas was the highlight, funniest line..
"My name's Lord Mayley and this is Miss Right"
    "Oh, Congratulations"
    "No, no, that's her name".

  7. One of my favorite British comedies. With 2 of my favorite comedians. Sellers and Terry-Thomas. Thanks for posting this now obscure film thats underated.

  8. 38:51 (lol) not a bad film at all. dennis price was the perfect (only?) casting choice as an actor who could "out cad" terry thomas (except maybe george saunders); joan sims was funnier here as the terrified daughter than she was as sid james' wife/wives in all the carry on films years later; peter sellers is in good form and shirley eaton's part is like a play on the real life "scandal" that surrounded lizabeth scott a few years previously. a lookalike too.
