  1. Alexander Dumas thisauthor wrote Count of Monte Cristo, The Man in the Iron Mask and The Three Muskaters all excellent stories. I enjoyed this about hypnosis the power of the mind. Thank you I enjoyed this! ?‍? I have been hypnotised not to have pain in childbirth and I didn't he was a European doctor,! Very powerful technique!

  2. This is a true underrated gem of a film. It explores themes of hypnotism and prejudice against gypsies, as well as lust for power. Stephen Bekassy is so amazingly evil as the Viscount de Montagne, who sentences Joseph Balsalmo's parents to hang just for being gypsies and then sends young Joseph to the whipping post, with orders to blind him when the whipping is over. Besides Orson Welles, who was always outstanding no matter what role he took on, the film also features character actor Akim Tamiroff and Valentina Cortese, who would go on to become a respected Italian actress. The plot to seize control of the throne of France is pure vintage Dumas. A great film, thanks for posting!
