  1. Jack Palance : 1919- 2006. Ukrainian parents, he was born in Pensylvania and worked in their coal mines… ended up boxing, plus other jobs. Twice married, 3 children, 1 son died in car accident.

  2. Joan was a beauty – the resemblance she and her sister Olivia De Haviland had with each other was kind of hard to see… but now that I'm older I see the resemblance more… Olivia has now become 103 years old… married a French man.. can't remember his name… been living in France for decades.. The tabloids had Joan and Olivia feuding with one another for a long time.

  3. The scenes outside the city look very much like old San Bernardino (San Berdo to the oldersters)/Riverside with the huge vineyards that produced the grapes for what of the time were called jug wines, "cheap" "Italian" wines sold in the large glass jugs with the little circular handle. Then the Gallo Brothers got involved with what raised the type to a quality wine on its way to classified by year of production and wine varietal. Now the land is covered by the massive 'burbs that would get caught up in the 2008 housing fiasco since it was "cheaper" for people to move out there in order to buy a home although it would require them travelling hours back and forth in order to get to work. The city scenes are studio lot sets. The color is pretty good. i wonder if it has been worked on by the film institute?

  4. im an oil painter . The blue hues in the Tangier night scene are amazing . I literally have hundreds of paintings to do in this movie . Thanx

  5. Grumpy Marc? I love you too. The 50's color swells luminous in this one. Must be the film. Not so stark as modern day has become. Room for mood. This one hits the spot for me. I just knew Nicki would get in the way of a bullet in the end. Great shades of Casablanca.. 9 of 10 on my trolling chart. Obrigado.

  6. Quem disse que os heróis-galãs têm que ser handsomes? Jack Palance é a prova incontesti dessa hipótese. E olha que ele não foi astro só de filmes B, mas também de clássicos, e contracenou e beijou belas estrelas na tela: Martine Carol, Maria Félix, Joan Crawford, Ida Lupino, Allison Hayes, Barbara Rush, Shelley Winters, Anita Ekberg, Milly Vitale,Eleonora Rossi Drago, Giovanna Ralli Corinne Calvet, Brigitte Bardot. Joan Fontaine, Claudia Cardinale, Betsy Palmer e Silvana Mangano. Quero deixar bem claro aqui, que as legendagens em Português oferecidas pelo Youtube ou pelos uploaders é de ruidade gritante. Elas, além de confundirem mais do que esclarecerem, são pessimamente ordenadas. Falei e disse!!!!!

  7. Very interesting. Jack Palance had a unique screen presence. No one moved the way he did, or stood the way he did.
His eyes and his voice seethed danger and threat. That is why he made such a great Attila (good movie, if you can find it.)
I think producers had trouble figuring out how to use his unique persona.

  8. Interesting film from the '50s, I saw this in 3D at the Egyptian at the 3D Expo. Not a lot of 3D effects but interesting to see Palance in a good guy mode since in the same year he played a villain in RKO's "Second Chance" also in 3D with Mitchum and Linda Darnell.
