This film was pretty good, especially after just watching MY MAN GODFREY. a film that nobody seems to have noticed demeans women, in which all the female characters, without exception, are portrayed as silly. emotionally-unstable women. Lucille Ball was a solid antidote to that William Powell nonsense, with its ridiculous plot and forced, illogical ending. It's always enjoyable seeing William Bendix in one of his early roles, where he's a villain instead of a comic character. Overall, a very entertaining and fast-paced film. Solid film noir.
