  1. Professor is a complete idiot. WHY would he go through a gated toll road so his face could be recognized? Why no did he have to dump the body over a barbed wire fence? He also dropped something at the side of the road.

  2. Another movie made around the same time with the same leading Stars i.e (Edward G Robinson.-Joan Bennett- Dan Duryea) on YouTube called “Scarlet Street”

  3. This is before my time but clearly they were far much better actors and much better movies like the lady said "the strength of story and acting talent".

  4. There is so much uncritical nostalgia in the comments. I love film noir and classic Hollywood and foreign films, but I also love what's happened with television the last 15 years or so. There was a time bragging about not having or watching television was supposedly an indicator of sophistication and intellect, but now it's just a marker of how out of touch you are, and don't even know it. Mad Men, The Wire, The Leftovers, Halt and Catch Fire, Atlanta, are all works of art and are as good as any of the classics we love and fete, while doing something in a longer form than film cannot accomplish by its very nature.
The wonderful thing about living in this period is we can have it all. Yes, there is a lot of drek out there but that was true in the classic Hollywood period, too, and to posit otherwise is being untruthful. Likewise, so many wonderful movies are being made I can't keep up! Both in Hollywood and abroad. So don't be a luddite, embrace the new. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find, if you care to look closely.

  5. can't wait for the remake 2020! although the "murder" is obviously self defense, the remake will prob have a massive twist only visible to those that have seen the old version. they remade the story through a different lens I'm guessing.

  6. A great ending! Two twists within the last 5 minutes! A trite expression I know, but they just don't make them like they used to….

  7. Such a great movie. I´m film student, i been taking more guidelines with classic cinema than the actual stuff on Netflix or TV, i mean there are good things too but there´s not a such thing of symbolism, inmersion and depth sings in actual movies or series. Migth i`m wrong anyway i feel more comfortable with old movies.

  8. I was having an anxiety attack the whole time he brought the body to the spot. I don't know if I can stand the whole movie lol

  9. Older movies have better in depth dialogue because they were produced in a time when people had larger attention spans.
Most people today have the attention spans and comprehension levels of very small children, thanks to technology the minds of most people have regressed.

  10. Wow im surprised. I would have never guessed that rackshots were introduced this early. Clearly visible in full form in that blackdress.
