  1. That scene early on around the supper table where Bobbie gets the sisters a job singing is almost EXACTLY like the scene in "Sing you Sinners" with Fred MacMurray where Joe (Bing Crosby) gets his brothers a job singing. One of my favourite movies! Nice.

  2. Lots of fun, although Betty Hutton is an acquired taste – a combination of Ethel Merman and Judy Canova, with plenty of energy and brass. Her solo numbers are ideal for her, although they're pretty slight compared to others by Van Heusen. Lamour and Macmurray more than hold their own against Hutton, and it's just a shame that we didn't get to see more of Frank Albertson ("Oliver") and Frank Faylen ("Herm"), two fine character actors.

And you have to love the imaginary world Hollywood creates – the band can't raise $190 and the girls are (somewhat) excited to earn $10, but everyone can wear elegant evening clothes, live in NYC, and nightclub hop.
