  1. Dina: Stop it elvie, stop this bullshit, now say you're sorry.
Elvie: I'm not sorry, i mean it, i'm glad i hate it!
    Greg: Fuck that!
Tony: If you wreck my night tonight elvie i'm going home without you. You're an ungrateful little butt.
Elvie: Don't even think about it.
Tony: you are unkind and uncaring.
(Elvie starting to cry): You make me so angry.
Dina: well of course you're angry, if you can't behave better you can be as angry as anything you won't be happy.

  2. I don't see what the problem was with having Shirley star as a mean brat that audiences back then had. She becomes good in the end and learns her lesson. And actors are supposed to have wide ranges. I thought she was good for the roll =)

  3. The boy who it was implied was the future Abraham Lincoln was played by Gene Reynolds, who just passed away a few days ago on February 3rd, 2020. He was 96.

  4. Elvera: tony.
    Tony: what is it baby?
Elvera: Why do you have get so dirty with me all the time?
Tony: dirty? why did you call me dirty?
Elvera: Well you are, i can't even have a kid with you.

  5. Shirley looks so georgeous in this film, specially in the land of luxury. I think it's for the tecnicolor that her face features can be fully appreciated. It´s a shame that older movies doesn´t have this quality.

  6. Wow… Watching this as an adult is absolutely insane. Let's just cry through the whole movie shall we? Explore our own memories and find the damn bird… Smh. My heart…

  7. The Blue Bird was Shirley Temple's consolation prize for not being in The Wizard of OZ (notice how both movies stared off in black and white before switching over to color). Although the film won an Oscar for best special effects, it was the first Shirley Temple movie that didn't make money. What's interesting is that in the beginning, Shirley's character is a bit of a brat, but she soon reverts back to usual sweet self.
