Great cast and acting all around.
Thanks for the upload
It also has one of Vida Hope's best scenes as the quiet woman who eventually shoots her husband. Her dreamy, oneiristic expression is a key feature of noir movies and a great mood contribution to this one.
After Night and the City, one of the foremost noirs from postwar England. Top acting, script, music and lensing with minimal resources. It's interesting that Robert Siodmak's The Killers (1946 ) has the same ending a year earlier (apparently), with Ava Gardner instead of Sally Grey desperately crying "tell them that Kitty didn't do it …" I agree that credits need to remain to make the movie complete.
An excellent British thriller full of twists and turns, good storyline, great acting all round.
Griffith Jones. Handsome man
I like old movies, they had no quarrels about having 50 year olds play 27 year olds. Same for chicks. 😊
The bit I find odd is the introduction of Sally Gray's character. It isn't until Howard's in prison and she has to tell him who she is. I was wondering why she wasn't in the first part of the story, when Howard is with the baddies. She isn't even mentioned. It's as if Gray wasn't available for filming and had to be put in later.
Excellent film by Cavalcanti with Trevor Howard on top form, the lovely Sally Gray who was shortly to retire and Griffith Jones playing against type for those who have seen Miranda and The Scarlet Web with Michael Brennan as Frankenstein in this tale black of marketeers and vengeance.
Excellent upload thank you
Why does this site keep cutting out the damned credits? I always have to get the credits from someone else who's running the same film…if you're doing something, do it properly!
Some great 'noir' dialogue in the script. Cinematography was excellent by Otto Heller (Ipcress File, Funeral In Berlin, Billion Dollar Brain, Victim, The Ladykillers). Trevor Howard and Griffith Jones gave powerful performances. Enjoyed it! Thanks!
Tough guy dialogue
What a fantastic film this is…and comical in parts. Thank you for uploading
That Sally Grey character reminds me of Lauren Bacall a tad we bit..
When movies was movies…
A decent, but old British film, very good to watch, and a bit of a classic.
Was the woman- Sally Grey? Really a beautiful woman- who is she- credits were not available? Thank you.
I adore the dialogue. The pic contains one of my favorite film segments ever — when Clem happens upon a married woman in her house outside London.
Great movie! Old school English filmmaking at its very best!
This is an above average British crime drama .Good acting ,script and visual effect. I only have two issues (1) It follows the same dramatic formula as American crime films(2) The final fight scene is totally unbelievable.
Quite a good movie actually 👍
132:14 It wasn't the fall that killed him but that SUDDEN STOP!😂😂😂😂😂
Underreted Alberto Cavalcanti
Why did you delete Omar Mukhtar's movie?
Seen this one in my youth. For me a classic. Thanx!
