After a long prison sentence Smiler Grogan is heading at high speed to a California park where he hid $350,000 from a job 15 years previously. He accidentally careers over a cliff in view of four cars whose occupants go down to help. The dying Grogan gives details of where the money is buried and when the witnesses fail to agree on sharing the cash, a crazy chase develops across the state.

  4. So, so classic. Born after it was released, but me and my buddy can quote half the movie. So many great lines, great scenes, great performances….Dick Shawn is a tour de force! Ethel Merman is incredible…."What if something happens?….What can happen with an old fashioned?"….."oooh, you're buggin' me man"…."mama, I'm coming!"…"he just went sailing right out there…" Long live Barrie Chase, the sole survivor (March, 2023).

  5. I just noticed. At 11:54, Buddy Hackett's character says "I'm gonna get the hell outta here!" ….at the time the movie was filmed in 1962, the Hays Code was still in effect and it was very unusual for even mild curse words like "hell" or "damn" to appear in movies. I wonder if the censors simply missed this.

  12. I thought this movie would be fun to watch. But I had a hard time getting through it with all those greedy, obnoxious characters continually fighting amongst each other. They all just got on my nerves! I am so done with this crazy show!

  18. I saw this movie with my sisters and brother while the family was at a convention in San Francisco. Dad's organization had things for kids to do so their parents could go to meetings or see other sites that kids would not enjoy. We saw Jason and the Argonauts the next day at a different theater.

  27. Just wanted to say; This movie was made 60 years ago. One of my Dad's favorite movies. When I seen this , the one thought I had was this – These feebled minded people at that time, I felt bad for. Most of these stupid people are dead. This movie was a freakin joke. It's terrible!

  40. I saw this when it first came out. I was 10 years old and I went with my parents and sister. We were laughing so hard. Still funny after all these years great movie and great cast😂👍🤣👍😵‍💫
