What unholy terrors lurk behind the walls of a secretive Irish convent? Northern Ireland, 1960: Father Thomas Riley (Lalor Roddy) and Father John Thornton (Ciaran Flynn) are dispatched by the Vatican to investigate reports of a miracle — a statue of the Virgin Mary weeping blood — at a remote Catholic asylum for ‘immoral’ women. Armed with 16mm film cameras to record their findings, the priests instead discover a depraved horror show of sadistic nuns, satanism, and demonic possession. Supernatural forces are at work here — but they are not the doing of God. Inspired by the infamous true histories of Magdalene Laundries — in which ‘fallen women’ were held captive by the Irish Catholic Church — this found footage occult shocker is a chilling encounter with unspeakable evil.

  1. This was intense. I've known a few women who were either born in a Madeline House, or were sent there as girls. They told us nightmare stories about how the nuns treated them. There was nothing supernatural about what they said. Just a lot of abuse both physical and mental. I can see how a story such as this movie could evolve from the horrors those young women experienced. The authorities, when they finally shut this thing down, did find evidence that many babies were sold, or they died and were buried there, which makes this movie all the more upsetting cause there is truth woven into it.

  3. pay attention to the priest talking about humans being the evil – I worked behind locked doors in mental institutions for 11 years – state and government – even department of corrections and I can tell you – I saw lots of evil – but none of it was demonic – nor supernatural – people play a game in their own minds so they don't have to take responsibility for the evil they do – I am not telling you this to make you feel better actually it should make you feel worse – you can die at the hands of another at the drop of a hat – I was in good physical shape back than and that came in handy – because there were patients that wanted to hurt you – why? in their world why not? they were not living in my world I was visiting in theirs – believe me if society ever did fall apart – it would be the book of Eli or The Road. To put it in plain english you think they are human because they look like you and sound like you – a mind does not require a soul to rule on earth – as we see now- everyday. Your mind cannot set you free – but your soul can. Find it – live in it – not between your ears.

  7. I was loving this until the shaky cam tunnel chase. It was just a mess and went on forever. I got really irritated by it. The ending also dissappointed me., but I loved the first 3/4 of the movie so much that I'm definitely going to come back and watch this again. The atmosphere was incredible and I love the actors. Especially the older priest. He seemed so real. The awful head nun was brilliantly performed. Great acting. The lighting I think was the real star of the show, though. I really felt the mood. Could've been a personal favorite with a better ending. Coming up with an ending must be the hardest part of storytelling because so many movie endings are dreadful.

  20. Just started watching. Yes, what's up with violence in the church! Explains why they cry blood! Ok cont…I'm at 40:01, Mother Superior has something to do with it? Her attitude! Cont…wasn't that scary.

  29. People who found the film too 'simple' or confusing: The answer is in the TITLE of the film. This Church is a false facade, it is actually literally a door for the Devil. The nuns who run it are demons. It is all to lure people into its trap…..the whole Church there is evil.

  30. *spoilers ahead* While a bit slow to start, I LOVED the atmosphere & also the heartbreaking & emotional speech by the priest to his younger cohort. And how about that Mother Superior! How is that character not on the 'wall' with Reverend Kane or Annie Wilkes or other terrifying villains?? She was petrifying in HUMAN FORM! While it was a bit muddled, the ending revealed that the Church was NEVER God-oriented. It was run by demons (especially The Mother Superior) & perhaps some humans that chose to serve the Devil. The whole church itself was a facade. The whole church was forcing women into slavery, human sacrifice. Notice near the ending all the baby skeletons floating in the water? They are clearly either 'products of rape' or human sacrifices. Creepy as anything! The alleged miracles were only to fool these priests into coming & feeding on their hope…..& becoming sacrifices. The fact that they doubted their faith, even at times, made them more of a target & a more powerful sacrifice.

Is she the FIRST one arrested for STEALING, for setttlng up scams funneling the CITY that hired her's CITIZENS' FEES and TAXPAYER DOLLARS into her OWN BANK ACCOUNT, and for LYING to her SUPERIORS and her COLLEAGUES from THAT CITY by denying any relation to the individuals that she'd HIRED and had made bonus RECIPIENTS, who in fact WERE her relatives and a conflict of interest ALL while still having the gall to keep spewing all of the USUAL, WORN OUT, USED TO MANIPULATE, AND PLAY THE VICTIM, RACE-HUSTLING spiel?!?!?!?!

    I thought I was hearing light heavy breathing outside of my room

    Then I heard a big bang

    But I think those noises came from the movie

    Ive met my dopplegänger 3 times.

    The second time, I was sleeping and I awakened at 3am.. feeling like someone was in the room with me.. so I rolled over in bed, and there I was.. knelt down with both hands sat on the bed.. theres nothing stranger in a human experience than sitting alone with yourself for 5 minutes, staring into eachothers eyes.. not speaking a word.

    The Third time, he appeared again.. but this time with a message, "hurry up.. your time is running out"

    He.. me.. I looked like I was in my 20s. He would always wear my old clothes, I used to wear..

    I didn't have a fearful response, it you after all..

    I wonder, if he's my game host, playing me, or he set me loose in this simulation, set in the rules I must exist in.. coming to check on me.. maybe we all have a host.. playing each of us..
    things are getting stranger and stranger.. but that's schizophrenia.. or thats what we label such experiences happening under

  41. Awesome movie. I confess I was feeling quite bored at the begining, but the development of the movie turned out to be excellent and it overpassed my expectations. Pure evil, no rubbish editings, stubborn main character, etc. This is a must watch
