Retroflix is my happy place for exploring cinematic history
Rory Calhoun always wore his belt buckle on the left side. Glad to see that Shep went with them at the end. It was a nice touch.
Good one-TY
Wonderful stars, interesting story. The line about mankind's 'psychic belly ache' sounds like what Dr. Tower (Claude Rains) spoke about in another great film, King's Row – and that took place before both world wars.
This is a great find, Simmons and Calhoun look great, but ye gad, the script was too ambitious to get across its lofty commonplace ideas, and that leaves the characters trapped in an artifice rather than pursuing their logical ends in a tight plot.
Thank you so much for posting this heart warming film…the modern films are rubbish i was born in the wrong time…all of these actors are great & the lovely Jean Simmons💞🇦🇽💥🌞
Thanks for the great movie! Jean was terrific.
Anyone know where they filmed this? It looks a lot like the central coast of CA, where I grew up, south of Ragged Point and North of San Simeon. It also look like Spain. Beautiful country no matter where.
How odd it is that she is wearing a full complement of Lipstick, Rouge and Eye Brow Pencil out there in the middle of nowhere! Who is she doing it for? The sheep? The dog?? Her father??
Jean Simmons looks & acts terrific as usual in this unusual film.

Rory Calhoun looks like Juan Martin del Potro
It’s a good movie but I can’t help wondering why a prisoner has a knife.
Tried watching a movie with Nick Cage that seemed to have a good plot; half an hour into it, couldn't watch anymore. This movie, half an hour in, has more class and a better storyline. I don't know if it will be interesting til the end but it beats the crap out of the one I started earlier.
That lamb is cute 🐻
