“The Cartwrights find Billy Horn, a young man who was taken captive and raised by the Shoshone. He comes to live with them and befriends them, as they try to re-accustom him to the white man’s ways. However, a threat emerges with Milton Tanner, a wealthy landowner who is making a claim for one-third of the Ponderosa. Billy believes that Tanner should be fought head on, as the Indians had taught him, rather than in court, and the Cartwrights are unable to convince him otherwise. “While chasing some horse thieves Lorne Greene, Michael Landon and Ray Teal come across a white captive of the Shoshonis. While Sheriff Coffey promises to search for his people, the Cartwrights take Carl Reindel bck to the Ponderosa.

Reindel bonds quickly with the family especially Michael Landon. But the Cartwrights have some problems of their own. Robber baron type Ken Lynch is disputing title to a third of the Ponderosa. Reindel wants to help, but his kind of help puts him in a jackpot.

Reindel gives a nice performance of a confused kid trying to adjust to a new world and a new way of thinking. This episode is worth checking out.” Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

  1. Adverse possession may come into play. The Cartwrights have been actively using the land for probably decades. If this other man did own it, arguably he abandoned it by nonuse.

    how can the writers of this episode have a white boy raised by Indians and a white mother about the Bible don't know killing is wrong. Especially since
    He fights for The Ponderosa. land that initially
    Belong to the indians… He never mention killing
    White people who stole robbed and killed to land
    Once the army U S. Stole land other whites were
    Able to settle Called Settlers. Black people ex slave

The Cartwrights did a pretty crappy job of trying to fit him back into western culture not anticipating or explaining very well the problems and of dangers of integrating someone from a different culture with different rules. They were kind of distracted with the land dispute, but a pretty crappy job non the less.
