  1. Thanks for sharing this, yours is one of my favorite sites on YOU TUBE, not only for the interesting programs but also for the overall friendly, mature feed back, a rarity online but especially on You Tube where anonymity seems to encourage the worst in some.

  2. A great film and superb acting. This film serves as a reminder that there is always a price to be paid when dealing with other worldly entities. Sadly, the price was was A High. 😒

  3. A mother actually putting her children to bed? What a shock? If the couple wanted extra money for things, why doesn't Hester watch her own children, clean her own house and cook her own meals? This was a well-done movie, actors & all, but, I didn't like it. I hated the underline topic of gambling. Taking a child to a racetrack was wrong, Gambling is a serious addiction and ruins lives. It seems like it was a way of life at the time in England. This movie is not to be enjoyed. A serious message w/sinister undertones.

  4. John Harvey Davis: b: 1939-2011:
Was the BBC's Head of Comedy from 1977 to 1982, before joining Thames Television in 1985.
Thames was then an ITV contractor, for which Davies was head of Light Entertainment from 1988.
During the last role, he was cited by the popular press as the man who fired comedian Benny Hill when the company decided not to renew his contract.

  5. Such a sad ending, but how could a child die just from being obsessed with knowing the winner of a horse race? When Bassett told him that Malobar had won, he smiled and told his Mother, "I'm lucky. " Then he died. What could have caused it?

  6. This wonderful episode in" content and style " of John Newlad' s"One Step Beyond" american 60" series has an importatnt difference. "One step Beyond" begins always with Mr. Newland saying that the theme of the series were strange experiences that happennred in real Life. Well, this storiy here is an adaptation of D. H. Lawrence short story. All complete ( and magnifcent) ficcion. Beatiful but out of the imagination of a great writer.

  7. Parents have to be very careful in what they say when around children. Children are like sponge and they act on what adult do or say. This is a moral story to all adult. Love this program I have recently discovered on YouTube.

  8. An exceptional piece from DH Lawrence, done with the finest English actors and director. A true classic.. no CGI, no vulgarity, no dumbing down to the lowest common denominator. Such a
subtle and wonderful piece. Makes modern film pale by comparison.

  9. Ever since I saw this on TV as a kid it's haunted me. I've seen at least 3 versions but this is the best one. I recently bought an anthology of D.H. Lawrence short stories and this is in it.

I have an interest in why some child actors stay in the craft and others go off to more mundane jobs so I like to check their IMDb entries and see what their careers were/are like. John Howard Davies only appeared 6 times in front of the screen but he ended up producing some of my favourite comedy of the 70s including Fawlty Towers, The Good Life, The Goodies and Monty Python. Vale John.

  10. There is something much scarier about black and white photography. It adds play of light and shadow that color does not have.

  11. JOHN MILLS highly acclaimed English actor who had Jo's own studio and made movies. Father of HAYLEY MILLS. Father and daughter performed together in many movies.
And the little blonde boy played OLIVER in OLIVER TWIST. So glad to finally see him in another role.
    One of the better uploads.
    Thank you 🤩
