Great film from the UK, enjoyed it even more the second time around~ starring the late great British actor James Mason. Read that British actress Enid Stamp Taylor who starred with Mason in another fabulous mystery thriller, 'Candlelight in Algeria" died the year after this movie was made in 1946! She was the blonde beauty who played Lady Henrietta. She fell in her bathroom from a stroke and died from a blood clot on the brain at age 41! May they rest in peace~
What is so funny is that you can have your breasts and shoulders exposed, but not your ankles! So scandalous!!😮😮
Miranda
Dang commercials …I will not do any business with the advertisers.
This movie was awesome. This is time well spent.
The Wicked Lady (1945)
She’s a psychopath – in these fantastic, enjoyable, 1940’s films, the “bad guys” get their due!!! Margaret Lockwood is really very good – she doesn’t overplay her part, and no one cares what happens to her. That’s a good actress!!!!! They were all very good. Didn’t even realize it was James Mason at first. He definitely didn’t overplay that part. he was a rogue with a heart.😏🌷🌱
Sorry, the movie is terrific, but I just couldn’t help but make the comparison. Horrid people – are these the kind who follow a false idol👹 – I hope you know who I mean.
I have seen this movie many times and still enjoy it every time I see it. They just do not make good movies anymore.
I recently found these old English movies, so good! Loved the snappy & smart dialogue in this one, and the gallows scene was quirky & funny. I also enjoyed "A Place of One's Own" a ghost story from the same studio & time.
Yes skating and sinning,lol😊
I thought she was kidding about being her bridesmaid at the beginning.
Seriously, good movie.
And, seriously…
This is what happened when Scarlett O'Hara Butler after Rhett left. She went to England!
And played all of her Scarlett tricks on the foreigners. Tfs.
Margaret Lockwood could be Yvonne De Carlo's less attractive sister.
Up to 59:00, I thought this was supposed to be a serious drama, but with that one line I realized this is satire. Wish I'd realized sooner– it makes the whole film more enjoyable.
Absurd plot but somewhat entertaining.
Hard ending. She was dying, he could have at least stayed with her.
That woman is a big jerk ruin her marriage
I feel bad for Kep
I love the line when she first arrives and the first girl says, "It's been ages. And your eyes are still green!" What other color would the be? Do they change color periodically? LOL!!
