When a man in a mid-life crisis ( Edward g.Robinson) befriends a young woman ( Joan Bennett) ,her venal fiance ( Dan duryea ) persuades her to con him out of the fortune they mistakenly assume he possess ! His involvement with the couple gets him deeper and deeper into trouble-until it drives him to murder! His conscience haunts him at the end of the flick! Mr Robinson and Ms Bennett were good in their roles-great but depressing movie! 🎥 🍿👍👍👍👀👁️👀💥🎵

  3. Excellent story. Eighty years old, and still a masterpiece. Edward G Robinson, works his magic. Watch his face, as he goes through a range of emotions, that takes you along with it.

  25. How can anyone not see how colourization ruins a film? The colours aren't really representative and they flash in and out- spoils the ability to get lost in the film.
