  1. Eeep! The shot at the end with Marylee stroking an oil tower was not subtle! Bacall and Malone are a wonderful contrast to each other—Bacall all restrained passion and Malone throwing every emotion up to the rafters. Her dance around the room while dear dad tumbles down the stairs was a scream.

  2. Mitch might have been a best friend to Kyle but not the other way round. Kyle could see Mitch liked Lucy at the start that's why he muscled in.

  3. Hey people of the BKR community: what are your thoughts about the movie?
I honestly liked some shots or scenes that, even if briefly, seems to be far less constructed than the 80% of the movie. I loved the colors and of course Dorothy Malone (she reminds me a lot of Margot Robbie) but it kills me to see Bacall in such an unflashy character.

  4. The blonde woman sitting with Stack when we first meet him at "21" is Dani Crayne, who later married (among others) David Janssen (trivia: Janssen had a small role in an earlier Sirk film, All That Heaven Allows).

  5. I think most women would be angry if a man got them into a car, then told the woman he was not taking the woman home, tricked her to get her in an airplane, and then flew her to a place other than where he said they were going. I know I was when it happened to me.

  6. Seems like every movie I see Lauren Bacall in with a love interest, I say that man was happy to have Humphrey Bogart woman. Lol. She's a beautiful woman inside and outside.
    Great movie.✌?❤??

That fight scene! Choreography and camera work was excellent: ballsy dialog, dirty looks, knives, guns, kicks, uppercuts, swinging chairs, breaking bottles, drunk bimbo laughing at it all . . . perfection.

  8. Perhaps the second greatest Hollywood romantic melodrama of them all. Only Imitation Of Life (also by Douglas Sirk.) surpasses it. Imagine what he could have done with By Love Possessed or From The Terrace. He could have created masterpieces worthy of the source material.

  13. SPOILER

Why did the police take Marilee or what's her name, from the motel back to her home, and took the gas station guy like he was a criminal? I mean, she's not underage, is she? Is it because times were different, or mostly because her dad would want the cops to do that, and they were like helping out someone rich?

  14. I’m 67 years old . I was raised that men should respect women. My daddy always treated my mama with respect. Then Miley Cireys hunched a rope. It’s July, 2020. Why did women want and beg to be trash. But ……. then scream to the I TOO movement.
