I love this book! This movie did capture the spirit of the book, thanks to the wonderful story,, and superb acting. Such a tragic turn of events. I can't believe someone attempted to redo this movie.

After reading the book, reading some other people's thoughts and reviews about it. I do feel that my own conviction is becoming stronger. For me, the real devil is Maxim De Winters and not Rebecca. I mean, how can I say it without having my comment looking like too long to read? First: He killed Rebecca, that's that. PERIOD. Second: Maxim never mentioned anything about his life (too afraid to tell what life he led). Third: He has a temper that scares that shit out of his 2nd wife. 4th: He was able to lie ever so smoothly to protect his crime: MURDER. 5th: He paints Rebecca as the devil who forced his hand to kill. But is that really so? Rebecca is not alive to validate, invalidate or give her statement. 6th: This line is repeated, maybe 2-3 times in the book. Maxim said that he is sorry that his 2nd has to grow old (mature). — What it means to me, is that he wants her (2nd wife) to continue to be naïve in order for him to manipulate her in ways he wants. Many says, that he is a pedophile because of this statement. I say NO. He just want TOTAL control. He wants to feel like an adult controlling a child. That is why he chose 2nd wife. The 2nd wife felt empowered knowing Maxim didn't love Rebecca, because like a child or any given person, she's so jealous. For me, even after the story, or at least then intro of the book, she has not grown. She has just validated herself and her so called LOVE for Maxim.
Wow! How great is the acting in this movie!?. The lady who portrays Mrs deWinter is actually Olivia Dehavilland’s younger sister Joan Fontaine. Both lived to be very old and apparently they were in a constant feud. Both were great though really!

While watching this movie I was soo excited. I didn't expect that Maxim had killed Rebecca,I thought he loved her ver much… and I don't like the character of his new bride… she looks like a little kid,she always compares her with Rebecca. But I enjoyed the whole movie. Thank u so much!
