  1. Of course they don't trust the woman and keep pushing her about her dodgy background, all the while they don't check the background of the shady out of work ex-cop. Patriarchy at it's finest

  2. Ms. Maidie Norman, who played the maid, was in 'Whatever happened to Baby Jane?' with Bette Davis. Sterling Hayden was in 'The Star' with Ms.Davis

  3. Dorothy was a fine dramatic actress as well as a singer in musicals and comedies.
I had seen the film before, but why they dragged the arrest of Dan Duryea, until it was losing the suspense, puzzles me. Ha,ha,ha, that murderer old doctor sure was, to me, unbelievable, trying to run down fire escape and alleys.

  4. Wow ! Had never seen this crime drama till now. Not bad ! Of course, I'm willing to watch anything with two of my fave actors: Dan Duryea and Sterling Hayden ! So many familiar faces ! Thanks so much for uploading the whole movie ! CHEERS !! 🙂

  5. Plot is convoluted. Dorothy Lamour is amazingly beautiful. Dan Duryea is the best villain ever. Every scene he lights up.

  6. I’ve been studying up in film noir during the quarantine. Learning and enjoying a whole new world. Love Dan Duryea- none like him… and the great Sterling Hayden gifted sailor, actor and author of one of my fav books, The Wanderer. Thanks for posting the movies and to all y’all out there- thanks for the interesting info.

  7. What a terrific little surprise this one is. Full of tongue-in-cheek humor I didn't think they had in 'the pictures' back then – especially the film noir.

  8. Wasted great actors with a mismash of 7 stories in a poor nonsensical script. Film has Dan Duryea again playing a stooge doing things no one would do. Half comedy half film noir. "C" grade…..

  9. I watched this because Dan Duryea and Sterling Hayden, always worth watching, are in it. The plot is good but sometimes this "film noir" is comical (ergo not a film noir). The police procedure is incredibly sloppy. The cop in quite unprofessional. In the scene at an Italian restaurant you hear the Mexican favorite, "La Cucaracha" played on the violin (1:04:10)! Another funny bit is when the psychiatrist is asked for his secretary's references (39:13). It wasn't meant to be funny but it is!
