  1. A lot is going on in this production. The two women roles should have been reversed. however. Dana Andrew made a convincing "mack daddy".

  2. What a cast. And Otto Preminger to boot. Never saw this. Charles Bickford so underrated just like Robert Young. Alice Faye, my favorite singer. Too bad she got intimidated by Betty Grable, the next leading blonde WW2 pin-up girl. After singing in a movie, the tune sold a million copies the next day. R. Vallee hired her for his radio show. C. Mills played E. Taylors' mother in National Velvet. Alice looks like she just had a baby in this movie, she did in 1944. I loved her soft aura radiating all around her. Bruce Cabot is a favorite of mine too. Wow, John Carrradine, LOVE his characters. Percy Kilbride, even the woman witness has been in a lot of flicks. I like this story.

  3. As unpopular as this may sound to the critics & elitists, it was a good movie with a nice twist. The reality was that there was talk of an Oscar nomination for her role in the Fallen Angel. It ran deeper that most give it credit for. I really enjoyed it.

  4. Much better than I expected but then again I should have known this with Otto Preminger as producer and director. Great O'Henryesque type ending. Some of the best cinematography I've seen with judicious use of a telephoto lens and panning shots that keep one intensely focused on each scene.

  5. Soooooo tragic abvout actress Linda Darnell what with the fact t hat she died in a fire, in just her 40's, in her home that one tragic nite. She had earlier in the evening seen one of her movies on tv.

  6. Private bubba, you are soooooooooo right. Gone are the days!!! Think of all the greedy world since the forties. We have become a world of losing innocents, loss of morals and taken three steps back with intelligence. HOWEVER, the question is, would we be better off living at a time in the forties? The answer is difficult but NO and the reason is all the great breakthroughs that have taken place. This pertains to health issues and above all, technology. Think about the wonderful YouTube as an example. I have said that YouTube should be up for a Nobel. This is especially true with all the wonderful people that upload these great film noir movies. May they live on.

I remember when I could get in to see a movie as a kid for twenty cents. I could get a hamburger and a shake for thirty-five cents. Of course, gas at that time was 12 cents a gallon for regular and 14 cents of Ethel. Ethel being the higher grade. There were only two grades of gas at the pumps. One only has to think of what a gallon of gas costs today. Ha ha. One last comment: Many have said and for good reason, why don't they make movies today like they did in the past. A very good question because very few movies made today are worth watching. The same goes for music. One only has to listed to the noise they make today as music. Gone are beautiful lyrics, complex harmonies and wonderful melodies and fine singers.
