  1. Thanks so much for posting this! It has been almost sixty years since I read any Hardy Boys books, but I can remember enough to recall that Mr. Applegate’s first name in the book (“The Tower Treasure”, the first of the series to appear in 1927 but substantially rewritten in 1959) was Hurd and not Silas. A lot of other characters are missing: Applegate’s sister, the father of young Perry Robinson and Iola Morton’s older brother Chet, gourmand extraordinaire and devotee of his old jalopy which he named “The Queen”. That is, just to name three. Applegate appeared in several later Hardy Boys books.

  2. Being only 4yrs old in 1956, when this originally aired……..I caught this series during the late 50’s early 60’s as part of the Disneyland programs. And when I knew that is was time for The Hardy Boys to come on I was as excited as the French were when Lindbergh landed. ??

  3. There was a good reason Tommy Kirk was not interested in Iola, he had designs on the new kid in town. He would have fit in nicely, no pun intended, with the new Disney theme.

  4. Back re-watching this during the COVID-19 pandemic. I never tire of these shows. The Hardy boys were a few years older than I, now Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk are two old guys enjoying retirement.

  5. I wish someone would slug Iola with a shovel LOL This could have been edited down to an hour and a half at the most! I think I'll wait a year before I do the 2nd one 🙂
