Shadow of the Thin Man is the fourth of the six The Thin Man films. It was released in 1941 and was directed by W. S. Van Dyke. It stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles. Also, in this film their son Nick Jr. (Dickie Hall) is old enough to figure in the comic subplot. Other cast members include Donna Reed and Barry Nelson. This was one of three films in which Stella Adler appeared.

Plot
Nick and Nora Charles are looking forward to a relaxing day at a racetrack, but when a jockey accused of throwing a race is found shot to death, Police Lieutenant Abrams requests Nick’s help. The trail leads to a gambling syndicate that operates out of a wrestling arena, a murdered reporter, and a pretty secretary whose boyfriend has been framed. Along the way, Nick and Nora must contend with a wild wrestling match, a dizzying day at a merry-go-round (accompanied by Nick, Jr.), and a table-clearing restaurant brawl.

  1. I've been collecting old black and white movies for about twenty years now. These Thin Man movies are some of my favourites. William Powell and Myrna Loy are such a great acting pair too. Have a good new year for 2018

  2. For anyone who appreciates crystal clear black and white film, this is a gem. Lots of fun with Nick and Nora. Thanks for the movie yellowsnakes.

  3. Het Yellowsnakes! Check out half.com where you can purchase blk & white movies. I purchased 50 for $7 & 100 @ $9. Absolutely love, lov the classic collection. Watched at least 12 in one sitting. Let me know if you score & trust me you won't b disappointed.

  4. HA! How many times in the last 100 years has that taxi gag been used where they say "follow that car" and the taxi drives away and leaves them behind?"

  5. Hollywood process re solid novels eg of the gt communist crime novelist Dashiel Hammett. He wrote 'The Thin Man' but the 'sugar factory' in its film of it cut out references t USSR, experimenting w/ eg cocaine, parents beating up kids, cops violence etc

  6. Really do like the Thin Man series…but, near the end of it; taking Asta into every bar and restaurant wears very thin, man. As well has Nick knowing every damn hood.

  7. William Powell and Myrna Loy were so excellent in every film that they made together or with out. It's no wonder why she was crowned Queen of Hollywood in 1938. A great story about Powell was that he refused to replace John Barrymore in "Romeo & Juliet" because Barrymore was causing trouble. It was Barrymore that had gave Powell his big break years ago.

  8. These two act like its all natural. I have always enjoyed watching Bill and Myrna together , when you watch interviews of them seperately they are still superb!
